Teaching
I have taught several courses at the undergraduate level in Mexico, Colombia, and the US, mainly courses in macroeconomics, (time series) econometrics, and mathematics for economists.
My education philosophy is embodied within the Constructivism framework and supported by inclusive pedagogy and critical realism. As such, I strive to create an inclusive learning community that challenges all students to learn actively and critically rather than wait passively for information. In my constructivist classrooms, learning takes place collectively, and I assume the role of facilitator. In the process, students become more confident that they can acquire knowledge and reshape it to create new knowledge. My experience has taught me that students end up more confident in their ability to enhance their critical thinking skills and more engaged and enthusiastic about future classes.

"He was definitely passionate about the subject and made a serious effort to get students talking about economics, asking questions if they needed answers, and encouraged interaction overall. This can be harder for more introverted students but it was presented in a way that wasn’t overbearing and obtrusive."
"I felt that the professor truly cared about his students and was readily available to assist them."
"The instructor was very understanding that some students just aren’t good/ don’t like math. He came up with several solutions and made us do an assignment on it. This made us make plans and study tips for how to improve and keep up with the work load. It was very helpful and I appreciated that aspect of this course. "
"Pedro went above and beyond. If I emailed him with a question (which I did, a lot), he got right back to me, with a detailed, and easy to understand explanation. I'm 37, and I was able to get through this very difficult material, with a great understanding of it. That really says a lot about the quality of the instructor. You have to give this guy a raise! "
